Increasing plant production in a sustainable and ecologically friendly manner represents one of the major challenges of the 21st century. A multidisciplinary perspective is the best approach to address a challenge of such complexity.

The INitiative for TRanslational, INtegrative and SYnthetiC Plant Biology (INTRINSyC Plant Biology) program synergizes and builds on the current strengths of existing biology faculty in various traditionally isolated disciplines of Plant Sciences, Computer Science, and Engineering. This program serves as a “melting pot” for new ideas and collaborative projects between faculty working in basic and applied disciplines, as well as facilitates strategic partnerships and collaborations between faculty on the main campus and the Plants for Human Health Institute.
